Transform Your Leap
Syncfrog has many useful tricks for leaping your data. One of my personal favorites is the Transform ability, which allows you to setup changes to your source files to known values or formats. What does that mean? It means you can convert dates and text or picklist information on the fly.
This is quite useful for getting your source information to conform to your CRM’s demands for data entry. It also allows for additional logic to be applied to your leap. You can extract data or validate data using regular expressions, null values, or a value set.
Using Transform to modify your date values is quite easy. In your leap, simply click the blue Transform arrow on your mapped fields and select “date transform.”
This will automatically select the entry format based on your target choice. All you have to do is match your source date format and select time zones if you like. Then, when you do your Data Leap, you will transform your source date format into the appropriate format, so your date fields will show properly.
Using the lookup Transform allows you to setup searching and values from your source data set. We can even upload sheets with 1000 rows of known searches and value sets, for example, if you ask for an account name in your source file. You can upload several variants of account names to be converted to a known account name (or ID value). International Business Machine, I-B-M and Big Blue all could be converted to IBM on the fly. We can use typical searching logic as well, so that includes, starts with, or matches are available for your source information.
Using regular expressions allows you validate and extract data. Do you want to extract just the area code from a phone number? You can do that with a regular expression transform.
Managing boolean fields is easy as well. We can check or uncheck boxes depending on whether the data is null or not. Heck, even matching picklist values is quite easy as well.
Again, all of this is accessible using the blue transform arrow in Syncfrog.
