Dreamforce for the 10th Time
Exactly two months from today, Cloud companies from all over the globe will transform San Francisco into the four-day, tech-spectacle known as Dreamforce. Throw us into that mix! We can’t wait to add to the energy and interact with avid Salesforce users about their feedback-in-CRM stories at Dreamforce 2014, October 13-16.
2014 marks quite a milestone for Clicktools. It will be the tenth time we sponsor Dreamforce! Since 2005, we’ve watched this event grow from ~3000 attendees to ~120,000 in 2013. It’s an understatement to say that a lot has changed for the cloud computing industry. To make some comparisons, I tracked down one of our founders, Andrew Walker, and asked him to flash back to Moscone Center circa 2005.
Memories from Dreamforce 05:
- The buzzword of the day was “on-demand” and people knew it was definitely the start of something. But who would’ve predicted where “on-demand” apps would be almost ten years later. In 2005, SaaS was gaining massive momentum, but no one had conceptualized “the cloud.” My, how things change.
- People wanted to know about this AppExchange thing. Salesforce had launched it that year and as one of the first providers listed, Dreamforce attendees were asking us about this cool new club and how to get in. Fast forward to 2014 to find an AppExchange featuring 2,213 applications that have driven 2,268,250+ installs. It seems to have caught on.
- There was no rock band. No superstar band?!? At Dreamforce?!? Correct. In 2005, your Dreamforce pass did not include a ticket to see the likes of INXS, The Foo Fighters, Metallica, RHCP, or Green Day. Nope, the pressure to delight and entertain rested squarely on the shoulders of Keynote Speaker, Chris Anderson, editor-in-chief, Wired Magazine. In the span of nine years, the Dreamforce marquee has evolved from featuring mostly tech execs to Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, and a slew of Hollywood A-listers. It’s safe to say that the cloud is now cool.
Andrew also told me that a customer paid us by check in the booth at Dreamforce 05. No joke. And, yes, we accepted the payment. This year, you’ll find Clicktools in Cloud Expo North, booth N1925. We promise to have some pretty exciting technology and strategies to help you better understand and serve your customers.
Stay tuned for other details, including our lunch table talk session from 11:30-1:30PM in a campus lunch area. Please follow us on Twitter @clicktools before and during the event, and contribute news/updates using the hashtags #df14 and #dreamforce.
